It is a scheduled phone call that plays a personalized, prerecorded message with Santa, Pip the Elf, and Mrs. Claus. It is not a live conversation. You can read the script and, once it is ready, listen to the keepsake recording before the call. We do not record your child’s voice.

Calls cost $7.99 each; buy a call for each child. North Pole Experience and Santa’s Workshop do not include calls. The $19.99 Santa’s Workshop Deluxe bundle includes one call. Unused calls expire with the season’s pass, on January 31 after Christmas.

Choose a time between 8:00am and 8:59pm in the recipient’s selected time zone. Santa may leave a voicemail if voicemail answers, or retry a busy or unanswered call. If the call fails, choose a new time in My keepsakes or contact support. Contact support for cancellation help before the call is placed.

There are three common ways: mail your own letter off to come back with a North Pole postmark, order a printed letter from a paid service, or make one instantly and print it at home for free. Print-at-home is the fastest and has no mailing deadline.

Postmark programs are write-it-yourself: you write and sign the letter as Santa, then mail it off with postage before the program’s published cutoff, and it comes back stamped from the North Pole. Check the current season’s instructions and dates with the service you plan to use.

Mailed options have cutoffs that vary by service, destination, and year, so check the service you use. A print-at-home letter has no deadline at all: you can make and print one any time, right up to Christmas Eve.

Regular holiday mail to the lower 48 states: ground and first-class by December 17, priority by December 18, express by December 19. Most mail-order letter sellers close orders in the second week of December. A print-at-home letter has no cutoff. Dates checked October 26, 2026; confirm with the program, seller, or carrier you plan to use.

There is no single deadline. In 2026 the North Pole postmark window is November 23 to December 1 and the last domestic mail date is December 19. See the first question above for every date.

You can still make a free Classic letter from Santa and print it at home, including on Christmas Eve. There is no postal cutoff. Allow time to receive the PDF and check your printer.

Do not assume a reply is automatic. In a write-it-yourself postmark program, you supply Santa’s reply and the required postage, mailed between November 23 and December 1 this year. Gift-adoption programs are different: they let volunteers fulfill children’s wishes and do not guarantee a letter from Santa or a gift. Check the program’s instructions too.
